Wild guess, but try running it off a DOS boot, instead of W98.

I've got a couple of laptops that I have to at least boot in DOS mode to get scanning stuff to run off the serial port.

Make sure u have the right cable hooked up and your not using the one meant for 86-89 MAF cars . Its gotten more than one of us here :-)

Older laptops, there is a chance u will have to pay for the bios settings as well. If u call Diacom (Rinda Technologies) their tech help is fairly decent

search alot and work smart, and u will be rewarded, glad I could help

lots better than when i couldnt find out why my diacom wouldnt link or break comm all the time. The actual cable from laptop to adapter was bad :-(

Mine works awesome now, has to be the msot stable datalogger i use, too bad its kind of old tech nowadays to the newer stuff out here :-(

Supposedly doing a new version thats windows based along with obdII compatibility and prior registered users will get a deal, but thats all i know, no release date as of yet
