WTB: Parts for 165 to 730 swap
I'm going to be swapping to a 730 ecm so I'm looking for some parts:
- Dead MAF sensors to make an adaptor
- dead or cheap 165 ecms to desolder the connector
- 24 and 32 pin connectors to connect to the new 730.
if anyone has these, please let me know.
Alex

I have an adapter w the pigtails I ll take a pic and you tell me a fair price. I messed up the knock board and got too busy to keep messing with the 7730. most are real good solder joints w heat shrink but hanging broke some of them loose. I probably want like 40 bucks as is or a few more to make it pesudo perfect.
Let me know
I ll take pics if your intrested

You might consider not bothering with the adapter. If you simply repin the connectors you already have, all you'd need to do is find a single 32-connector shell, and add about four wires.
Reason I say this, is that I went to the trouble of modifying an '87 harness so that it has two complete sets of ECM plugs in parallel, so I could easily switch back and forth between the '730 and '165. Well, reality is that I practically never use the 165, and neither does anyone else I know of whose done the swap. (IIRC, even Mike Davis has said basically the same thing).
BTW, I can send you a 32-pin connector if you need it.

Dave,
after searching around I think that's what I may do.
The 32 pin connectors are the same, just different colour? I already have another 32 pin connector from an old 165 harness, I'd just put some paint on the one that's supposed to be green.

Yup, exact same connector, except for the color. Also, the little snap-in plastic pieces on the back were also a different color, and embossed with an "E" or "F", rather than a "C" or "D" (just to help identify the pin numbers associated with that connector).
Also, on most of the FWD '730 cars I've seen in junkyards, the third connector is yellow rather than green, but other than that, it's still the same part.

Ed, my apologies, I sent you an email a day after you replied, and I just got an error message from your mailserver saying it didn't go through!
Anyway, I went and repinned the existing connectors, and it seems to be running ok now.

Not a problem. My pleasure. My email is edfirebird68@aol.com
I hope all works out well. As far as the FWD 7730 connectors, The ones I saw in two diffrent vehicles also had a smaller gauge wire. I got ones out of a car with the same guage as our third gens.
