PCM info

What is the PCM calibration file I need to find for my son's 97 LT1 with automatic transmission and a/c? Thanks

I am also interested in knowing what software exists to reprogram it.

Sorry to disappoint you rpm, but I doubt you will find the answer to that question on these boards. May as well here it from me cause I know someone else will tell you, this is a third gen F-bodies tech only forum.

There's enough thirdgens that have had LT1's swapped in, that it's not entirely off topic, IMHO. But, you'll probably find more info by searching through the fourthgen message boards.

'96-97 LT1's were OBDII, which makes reprogramming an expensive proposition. Most DIY'ers convert to OBDI, which makes reprogramming easy. It's a very easy conversion, simply replace the PCM, and either change the knock sensor to the OBDI type, or add a 3.9K resistor in parallel with the '97 knock sensor. Instructions can be found on the web.

Once you convert to OBDI, you scan with FreeScan, or DataMaster, and reprogram with TunerCat. You'd want to use a '95 program to start with, rather than a '94, for compatibility with the '97 transmission.

Might want to check out the following sites:

96 on is OBDII, as mentioned.

If you were to wire in a 95 PCM, ie the 8051, then there's a *normal* way of reprogramming it using www.Tunercat.com 's stuff. Thou you need some special cabling. When doing the flas type PCMs, I always grab a spare, and do the programming on the bench. They can crash during reprogramming, and are a project to reset.
