a/c

I'm still running mafless but have switched to 6E code. Just charged my a/c with 134a. The only problem is the car builds heat with the a/c on. I have a good air dam and blocked the condenser to core support "holes"(that air gap on side of condenser). If the car is moving then it can maintain coolan temp. Just at/off idle it will build heat. I suspect that is a slightly clogged radiator(didn't check the cores). OR the ecm is adding timing for a/c. Does the ecm add spark for a/c?

this condition only happens with a/c on at idle.

Thanks for any suggestions....

Should fill roughly with 75-80% r134 as the system had with r12 if doing the conversion...

Also Vader has posted the most applicable orifice tube for our cars when doing the r134 swap.. (tonna have to search i cant find it quickly). this might help u out on pressure buildup.

later

No timing change that I can remember, but the IAC counts go up.
Might look at how your MAP changes with the A/C one, and then look at if the timing, and VE change much.

At idle the A/C is a huge load. While only 5-8 HP, that's alot at idle RPM.

Might pull the weatherstripping off at the back of the hood, and see if that allows the hot under hood to better vent.

I'll try that.
Was also thinking about removing the underhood insulation. But I'm thinking it'll dry out/fade the paint on my hood. At least I could make the hood vents functional.

I'm running mafless with this car(t/a stock 305). So checking the load is not possible. Guess I could check the aldl for timing increase. Maybe running on default tables might not be good enough...ecm cant see the additional load. WHat do you think?
