highway mode question

This may be a stupid question, But I have been wondering how do you actually know that you have entered highway mode? Is there a flag that gets set on one of the ALDL programs? Or do you just have to assume based on A/F ratio readings?

The O2 should quit toggling across stoich., and drop to just a low reading.
