Got myself confused on hardware, lol!

Looking through all the programmers, adapters, chips, and zif sockets I'm once again confused as to what I need. I had a list of everything I need put together a few months ago and was going to buy but other expenses turned up and took priority. I already have a laptop but it has only USB, no DB9.

Here is what I know I need/want (All hardware from Moates):

TunerPro RT
C1 Atmel 29C256 Chip
ALDU1 USB-to-ALDL Converter
CABL1 OBD1-Style ALDL Connector

Then I get confused. I thought I wanted the AutoProm USB Version but now I think it might be over kill for what I really just need.

I just want to be able to install a 29C256 chip into my MEM-CAL in place of the stock chip and be able to simply remove my MEM-CAL from my ECM when needed to read/burn and then just plug the MEM-CAL back in. I was looking at the BURN1 "Flash&Burn" USB-Based Chip Reader/Programmer but I don't understand how the MEM-CAL will interface with it to read/burn? I mean do I have to remove the 29C256 chip or have some other part permemantly installed in my MEM-CAL do it? Isn't there and adapter that will interface with the MEM-CAL through the bottom just like the ECM does so it's nice and clean?

Please straighten me out on this...

Thanks!

Also where do I get a copy of the new $60 and what .ecu file do I use to edit it with TunerPro RT?

Thats not quite right.

The G1 allows you to use your original memcal, unaltered, with your new custom chip that you burn. At any point you can then insert your memcal normally if you ever want to go back to your stock setup.

It will all make sense when you get the parts. Moates.net also has more information (pics, etc).
