no data to WinALDL
Hey guys. Just started learning to program proms this week. Spent last week reading and reading. I am using WinBin,WinALDL to capture data and the PP2 with a AT29c256 prom. I copied buffer data from the 27c128 chip from Ed Wright to the 29c256 chip and verified the data. Using the adapter from Craig Moates and the new and old chip the car won't idle and there is now no data captured to WinALDL. Also, as soon as you turn the key, the fan comes on and while it's idling the SES light stays on.
Any suggestions would be a great help. Don't get to technical on me since I am new at this.
This is an '87 350 tpi modified.
Thanks in advance.

Limp mode is a little different than the problem I was having. Limp mode sounds like a rev limiter is in effect and it's missing every other cylinder. Before I changed the ecu file, it would idle a little rough but you could not give it gas or let off the gas and it would die.
O.k. I figured it out. Part of it anyway. I was using an incorrect ECU file to burn the chip. With my '87 I entered the 32bv001.ecu file and saved it that way. Now the cars runs and I can collect data using WinALDL.
Next problem is the car will not go into closed loop or idle in park below 1150 rpm.????? I need help here. I have changed the cold, warm and hot O2 loop timers to shorten the time until closed loop. The car ran for almost 10 min. with no change. No success.
Need some help.
Thanks

Don't use WinBin, there's no reason too with TunerPro being free. Mikobu, I can't tell you for sure but since I don't know if WinBin calculates the checksum then I can't say for sure but definatly try TunerPro. It'll do the checksum for you. If you want to disable the checksum just change the mask id to "AA" (that's hex), and then the ecm won't do a checksum on the chip. I've been running like this for years without a problem
.
Sparks, I don't know for sure what your problem is either but again we can safely assume it's in the eprom. I'd take the Ed Wright paper weight... I mean chip, and put it on the desk and start with a GM calibraiton. Hypertech is good too because they do next to nothing compared to a stock chip.
You might need to offset the calibration data since it is a larger prom! I bet this is the problem but I'll let somebody else tell you exactly what you need to do.
