serial to USB with Datamaster

I've searched and found some conflicting information.

I have a pretty new Toshiba running Windows XP proffesional version 2002 as my old laptop has serial.

I have no serial port and run Datamaster to log with.

Does anyone know of an adapter(or combination) that works well.

Thanks

Chris

Ive just heard with some adapters that it will still not connect right and that you must run a certain kind of adapter.

Thanks for the link also. I am watching that one now.

I use (from Craig Moates)
CABL1 (OBD1 cable)
ALDU1 (USB adapter with a 3 position switch 10K resistor, No resistor , diagnostic mode)
www.moates.net
It works very good with datamaster.
Cabl1 from ALDL connector to ALDU1.
From ALDU1 to laptop USB port

I went with Craig's stuff after trying Radio Shack and Belkin adaptors. Its not worth it trying to find an adaptor that will work. It sucks if you already have a serial cable like I do though.
