WOT Tuning

Now that I have WB on the motor, my WOT tuning is coming along. After 4800rpm, the AFR begins dropping from mid 12's to mid 11's by 5600rpm. BTW, using 7747 on 350 Xfire motor and TB's. Would you continue taking fuel out in VE2 table and/or increase timing after 4800 rpm by using the Spark Slope Timing in the Constant Tables? Currently using a total of 34d by 3600rpm.

I would reduce the fueling with the VE2 table (adder table). As far as increasing the timing I wouldn't do that, at least not yet. Once the AFR is more in line then playing with the timing may help.

RBob.

Dom, time to store that car. you must be buried in snow.
my prior set up as you may be aware was 210/216@.05 with xram and 2.00 TB's. ran 12.5/1 A/F @ WOT at 5100 rpms on both WB's(dyno and innovative). swapped the intake and cam(224/230@.05) with same tune and went 13-13.2/1 on innovative WB at 4800 rpms. still have not taken engine to higher rpms as concerned inadequate fueling(13 lbs FP). i had a baseline established on prior set up and tune to compare.. Have you given any consideration as to whether that intake(ported CF) could be causing the A/F to go rich? are you possibly beyond its capacity for CFM's when we hit higher rpms? not throwing stones here!

Ron,

No problem. I appreciate the input. I'd agree with you if I saw the MAP values dropping, but as Rbob will attest, even at 5600rpm, my MAP numbers are in the 97+kPA range. It doesn't drop much more than 1.5kPa between what looks to be torque peak at around 4000rpm and that top end. I was pretty surprised. I expected a much larger drop. If I remember correctly, you're not running a roller cam, while mine is. So although the spec is a 218/218 @ .050, its more like yours at 228/228 as a flat tappet. What I don't know yet is whether the injectors are static at WOT. My suspicion is no because the AFR seems to be changing as I make changes to the tune. The weather should be decent this weekend, so I plan on taking the car out and checking for spark counts and PW. Then I think I may pack it in. But its running pretty strong right now.
