i know everyone recommends the moates g1 adapter for installing new proms. i got one of these and i dont understand how it works. i read the directions very carefully on the moates website and i dont get it. the previous owner installed a hypertech chip so maybe my setup is a little different. anyway, since i couldnt figure it out, i just removed the old prom and put the new prom in without using the adapter. common sense seems to tell me that this should work fine, but i just want to make sure because it seems like evvveryone uses the g1 adapter. so am i okay? thanks guys

Hypertech used several different set ups, so without knowing which one, it's kind of hard to tell what you have.

Can you post a pic of what pieces you do have?.

If you have an ecm with 3 connectors, on it, (I can't get to Moates site to couble check if the G1 is for the 2 or 3 connector ecm).
If you do have the stock *memcal* ie the piece with the blue cover then that should plug directly into the ecm socket.

sorry no camera no pics

the hypertech chip has the prom and then two little things mounted on a black surface that plugs into the blue socket. there is a white cover that mounts over the black part. i just took out the prom in the hypertech chip and put my prom in there. sorry if that doesnt make it any clearer.

Sounds like the "modified memcal" version of the HyperJunk. Basically they took the stock eprom out of the memcal and put a socket in it's place, then put their chip in the socket.

What you did should work just fine.
