Where can you get them? Are they still selling them? Have they been working out for people who have them?

I got the PROMinator Pro and have been using it non-stop for months now. Excellent product, no problems at all. The software interface is easy and works exactly like it should -- the PROMinator will also be supported in TunerProRT 4.
Actually that is a link to Cobra289's page on his installation found in the prominator thread. It is quite helpful as I used it to mock-up my prominator installation. I can't wait to make the 'real' install. Can you use the current version of TunerPro RT (3.10) to datalog and make changes, then upload it with the Prominator software?
Are the only diffrences between the PRO and the regular, the ability to adjust on the fly?
So basically the PRO is $100 more so that you don't have to turn the car off between prom writes?
I need this thing, but I don't want to buy more than I need.
How do you get a copy of your car's factory BIN image put into the thing to start off? Do you send them your stock PROM or what?
I know I'm clueless here, and I could be reading that long 5 page post about it, but it's hard to find things in all of that mess.

Well, you can download a .bin file (AUJM.bin, ARAP.bin, etc.) from various sites or I think you may be able to download your .bin through an ALDL cable, laptop, and software. The .bin file contains the engine data on your PROM. With software like TunerPro, you can manipulate this data. You are correct that the difference is that you can upload or change the .bin 'on the fly' with the Prominator Pro, but need to turn it off with the regular prominator, I'm pretty sure. You can send your questions to Bill on his site, speedtronics.net, and he's really good about getting back to you.
You can download tunerpro http://www.supportfitness.com/mark/tunerpro/
I downloaded it and some .ecu files and .bin files and played with it a bit to get used to how it works, but am waiting on my prominator.

Yes, -- although I've never been able to get TunerPro RT (3.10) to datalog my 8746 $61. Just something I haven't really spent time with. Originally posted by iceman02

You dont have to turn the car off -- but it will make the car 'choke' for a few moments. So basically the PRO is $100 more so that you don't have to turn the car off between prom writes?

Most cars stock cals are available on DIY-EFI's archive or Moates.net. If you have an aftermarket chip (like I did) Bill was nice enough to load up my PROMinator with it before he shipped it.How do you get a copy of your car's factory BIN image put into the thing to start off? I just recently got a PROMinator and been having problems with getting my car to run. When you write to the PROMinator you just turn the key to the on position and send the bin and then verify it correct?? One thing I noticed is the checksum is different in the PROMinator software than it is in TunerPro RT. Is that how yours is? Any help would be great.Originally posted by adambros

Yeah, if after you upload your seeing a quickly flashing SES light chances are its a checksum error, and I do recall I've had problems with TunerPro's checksum before. My recourse is to then open and resave my bin with TunerCat. Originally posted by Frank 84 Bird

Also, make sure you have the most current release of the PROMinator software. Bill has it posted on the site.

The flashing CEL/SES light only applies to the earlier ECMs (7747, 8746...etc) that use the smaller (2732) EPROMs. The later MEMCAL equipped ECMs will show a single flash of the SES light when ignition is turned on if the ECM is "happy" with the ROM contents (be it an EPROM or Prominator or whatever). If you don't get that single flash of the SES (which by the way the earlier ECMs do as well) then there's a problem with the ROM contents.

I've been running the Prominator Pro since the Spring and its been great.
just starting to exercise my Prominator. had 2 bins loaded and that worked fine, driving around, switching between the two on-the-fly, no problems. had my DataMaster hooked up logging data, hunky-dory.
So I decide to start some more VE table, spark advance experiments and loaded up two more modified bins (it can hold 8 bins), and now, no matter which bin I'm on, I'm getting constant checksum errors, even when I switch back to my first two bins that had previously worked fine.
not sure if this is linked to me trying an XDF with my TunerPro RT instead of the ECU. I'll have to retrace my steps... trying to figure where the heck this gremlin snuck in.

Does this thing hook right up to my 1227747 ECM with no mods?
I can just plug this thing in and start flashing it and I'm good to go?
$175 for that seems like a steal!
One problem though....I don't have a parallel port in my laptop. Is there another way to interface it?
