first off i am completely new & trying to learn about prom burning
2nd off i fully know how to use the search function, i do not want to spend the next year trying to figure out which bin file to start with & am asking for experienced help

i have an 88 iroc, 305 (currently) 24lbs injectors and my HSR (before someone jumps on me about the hsr, understand a buyer bought my stock setup for $350 & the HSR had been bought 2 years prior for my 85 Iroc that then got junked out), auto tranny, the car has the 165 comp

so im trying to get this beast back on the road again

I need to know which bin file would be best to start with and where could i get it, prefferably for nothing

it has been suggested to start with arap.bin

thanxs

I don't think the arap is a good base for tuning. I like to start with a 87 GTA bin for maf and the aujp for SD. If you like, I can email you whatever you want. There is also some great stuff at www.diy-efi.org , you'll have to dig a little but it's worth it.

You need to realize this forum does not work like a chat room. Sometimes it'll take a few days to get a response. If you still dont get an answer then PM someone or rephrase and repost the question. Don't get discouraged from a lack of response.

i checked & i have tunerPro, not tunercat
according to mark's website i could use either the 6E or 32b edu file, which would be the best ?

The ecu file is matched to the bin file. SO to answer your question, we'll have to determine what year bin you are using first. The bin I sent you was from an 89 .

86-88= 32(b)>maf
89= 6E>maf
90-92= 8d>sd

ah, ok i was not aware the ecu files are matched to the cars year
on tunerpro's sire it says both ecu files can be used, but your better off using it for the correct year,
ill put together a list of questions that i have

You can mix up the ecu files but I wouldn't. Some of the stuff is different between 32b and 6e calibrations.

ok here goes
so far in my research, the $6e bin file eliminates the cold start injector correct ?
i was told VATS should be disabled
looking in the flags box, under 1st air flow mode word, VATS is listed, will unchecking that disable VATS ?
ive also read that changing info for a 58mm tb & such isnt like the above & i need to buy or build an aldl cable & collect lots of data

what kinda of things should i be looking for
i know the blm should be around 128 in both modes
but what else ?

Brother me and you are in the EXACT same boat. I am learning too ...see if I can;t pass on some of the easy stuff I have been through....

You are gonig to need that cable . You need it to datalogg ....so you can revise your current bin. I myself have started with the $6e mask and then ,..... the APYP bin file ( just because I am useing a manual tranny ....and this bin was from a manual vette )

You can start with any of the bins .... you just then change the values based on what data you logged on your run(s). I know you are sick of reading the top stuff .....but let me tell ya .... there is a munch of usefull stuff in it ....like where to get a ALDL cable

As it sits right now mm there isn't alot of literature on the $6e ....but thanx to others here ...that is changeing. I recomend following my post I have going on the $6e as I seem to be at the begining stages of tuneing like yourself. I too will be following yours ...just to maybe get one of them EUreachA moments like I did tonight

If ...you still can;t find out where and what to get after reading all the stickies ( its alll there everything you need) feel free to PM me anytime..... as all the Noobie stuff is still fresh in my head .

I collected alot of MAF information under the username kvu . Try searching the topics and username for kvu......not sure how well the search function is working right now.

This is a GREAT article for you noobs.

Everything is here for you guys. Most of the questions you'll ask has been beat to death. I personally reserve posting at diy-prom untill I'm totally stuck or trying to help. Traxion's article covers the basics like aldl cables. I have read it a few times, many moons ago.

Bins are kind of hard to come by though. The link I posted above doesn't really tell you what bin you are getting. It's kind of sad that this forum does not have a stock bin supply. We could have saved alot of broadcast codes and had a nice catalogue.

It's never too late.....
