Knock Sensor Signal Output

Hey everyone
Just wondering what the knock sensor actually does when it senses a knock; what signal is sent to the ECM? Is it just a voltage spike of like 5 volts? Basically I want to splice it into my WB for data logging to pinpoint where the engine is knocking and I'm just wondering what kind of signal to watch for.

Tony

It's my understanding that the knock sensor is just a microphone, so the signal will look like garbage if you hook strait to it. You need to hook to the knock signal that comes out of the ESC module. Thge ESC module acts as a filter and makes sense of the knock sensor signal. There was a post a month or so ago about hooking a light up to this line and for a knock warning light. Can't remember the name of the post now.
