Trying to connect to TBI ecm winaldl, no luck
After connecting and getting my Firebird hooked up to a laptop via aldl, I figured I try my go on a 4.3 TBI motor with winaldl. I cannot get the computer to connect, or even see any data from the aldl port with my bought aldl cable, that works in the firebird.
I have windows xp baud set to 2400, along with the ecm in winaldl set to the 288 ecm, and nothing. I can however pull codes from the car with the paper clip trick.
Is the data cable still M on the aldl port? What color wire am I looking for to be the serial data wire?

Make sure both E and M are tied to the data line of your cable.
If it's a USB cable, make sure WinALDL is set to use 4800 baud and not 2400.

I do not have a usb cable, and what do mean e and m are tied together? Do i need the 10k resistor between ground and the aldl spot to make this work?

both pins E and M carry ALDL data, depending on the ECM. If your carries the data on E but your cable only reads from M, it won't work. Same with the opposite. Therefore, make sure your cable reads data from both pins. You can physically tie them together.
The 10K resister between pins A and B is only required if it's a 1227165 ECM.
