What processor speed for TunerPro RT?
What processor speed for TunerPro RT?
I have tried a few times to get TunerProRT to connect to my Vette (165/6E) and just cant get it to work. I use the two trans cable, and it works fine with WinALDL through a 'Shack USB to serial adapter, but not TP RT. I tried TP RT about a year ago, then I tried it again when TP4 was released, same results. This is on my Compaq presario 1700mhz Windows XP laptop.
I got tired of messing with it, and picked up a laptop on EBAY which will be here in a few days- with its very own DB-9 serial port. Its a pentium 166mhz. Then I go and read on Mangus's site that tunerpro RT needs 200mhz, and 233 is preferred.
Am I screwed again, or will it work?

It should work with either computer.
What baud are you attempting to connect at, and what ADS file are you using for it? Considering my beast is an '89 165 6E car, I can assure you both 160 and 8192 baud are well-tested.
Let me know the details.

More info:
It should work with either computer. YOu need the 10K. If anything, I'd guess its the converter you're using - it might not be good for opening the port at 8192 baud directly. 160 baud should work with TP 4, though, as it uses 4800 baud to communicate, which is a standard baud rate. For 160 baud, make sure you're using the included 1227165_160.ads.
For 8192 (provided your rshack converter is not the culprit), use 1227165_6E.ads.

I tried every ADS file I could find. I can connect just fine using the same ALDL cable (two trans) with WinALDL. With WinALDL I keep the 10k in, with TP4 and prev. versions I tried keeping it in, and removing it after a few moments. I will try it again just to make sure I am actually using the file names you just specified.
I have a 6E bin in the car now. When I try a 6E ads file I get nothing, when I switch to a 160 baud file I get some data but its incorrect- *garbage*. I am using COM2 as the specified port, the same as specified in WinALDL on this same laptop.
I am hoping its just the shack adapter getting in the way somehow, since I just dropped a few bucks on the *new* laptop.
Thanks for the pointers, If I dont get to try them tonight I will have some time on wednesday. Thanks!

It took longer to get the *new* laptop than I expected. I tried it out, and right off the bat I get no data. When I select TP I get hardware found, I even get *connected* but no data. With WinALDL I get pretty much nothing. Sometimes 1, sometimes 3 in the flashing data box. I started thinking that maybe the serial port isnt working, so I hooked up the Zeitronics WB and it seems to work (without driving, WB sensor reading ambient air -showing lean #'s). I tried all the port settings, Ive disabled the IR port, and the 25pin printer port too.
Im going to try the *old* laptop today just to verify that the cable is still working. I may also burn a new bin just to make sure its not bin related.
Does anyone have any other pointers??
Thanks in advance...

Did you have any luck after trying it later?
I have had problems getting the RT aldl to work with my car also.
Using this: http://www.supportfitness.com/mark/t...28746_160.ads. I have not had any success either.
I'm using the Moate's aldl1 which works great with winaldl. It connects first time everytime unlike the serial to usb converter crap that I tried. I'm not sure yet on some of the settings for TP-RT so it may or maynot be in my learning curve of the tuner.
Also make sure that the aldl connector is fully seated. The only time that winaldl flashed a lower number and had low data output my connection was coming loose.
Sorry to not be of some positive help......just letting you know that you're not the only one having problems with this.

Thanks for all the suggestions, both posted here and in previous questions. I got it to work. Winaldl and TunerproRT's ALDL feature on my *new* old 166mhz Toshiba 430 CDT laptop.
Im sorry to say for future members who search for linking problems and find this thread- I dont know what I did that made it work. I reloaded TP4 and the latest WinALDL ( I had an old version) and they both worked right off the bat. Maybe when I transferred the files there were errors or something, I dont know. Im just happy that its all working now!!!
