PCMCIA + TunerPro RT Troubles

I had another go at hooking up the new laptop with a PCMCIA COM adpator card. Set the COM Port to 7 as that is what it is installed as on my PC.

TunerPro RT says data cable found and functional. But connection failed is what I get everytime I try and connect.

I tried changing the COM ports around to 1 and that had no effect. I disabled infrared devices etc that had no effect either.

I hooked up my old crappy laptop that does have a comport and that hooked up right away so the cable is not at fault.

Looks like the PCMCIA card is playing up or the settings are incorrect but I did follow the manual exactly to what it says to set frequency to.

I don't what else I can try. I know that when I first Installed TunerPro RT it said something about a file missing or it cannot find a ocx???? file. But the installation continued fine and ostrich connects no problem.

The problem is the AKM cable will not connect so I don't know if the file that was missing has any effect? I did uninstall TunerPro RT and reinstall it again but the error message did not come up again.

Is there anyone out there running a PCMCIA COM card with their laptop how did u get it to work? What settings, I am getting very frustrated with this.

Any help out there?

What car (ECM and mask)? What ADS file are you using? If the problem IS the PCMCIA COM card, I'm guessing its because the card won't allow communication at the (non-standard) 8192 baud.

However, TunerPro saying the cable is detected and functional suggests that things are fine. It might just be a mismatched ADS file?

?? OCX file? TunerPro doesn't make use of any components that would require an OCX. No ActiveX, OLE, COM, etc. No VB, no bloat, no junk.

Can you try installing again and see if you can get an exact error message?

Mangus,

I even tried running a test program thorugh the PCMCIA card and it did not work no matter what baud setting I set it to. I finally gave up and sent it back for a refund. Spent a good 3 days stuffing around with settings and what not.

I ended up buying from Craig his USb to ALDL converter.

The error message I got was always when I first installed TunerPro RT on a machine. If I uninstall it and then reinstall it and install it again it does not come back with the error message. I'll try it again and see if I can get it to come up. I am not sure now if it was during the installation or the qst time I ran the program. But it has happened on 2 occasions once on desktop machine the other on laptop.

It says something to do with a file missing or something but continue anyway, but it does continue anyway when you click okay.

Was the error message during installation, or on the first attempt to run TunerPro? If the latter, I know what the problem is (io.sys could not be connected to - used for parallel port driver for Prominator), and it should only be seen once. Running TunerPro again should yield no error message. If the former, I'd love to know more about it. The only thing I can imagine it would be is something required by the installer (which I didn't write).
