goodies have arrived
hello all well all the items ive ordered are in and this weekend im going to start the tuning process i have just some questions. ive been reading all kinds of info here and taking notes( a lot of notes) and i have decided my plan of attack i just wanted to know if anyone had suggestions on my plan
---
1st- inj, BT, other constants that are pertanant to my application
2nd- see how it drives , idles etc.
3rd- see what i can do to the idle speed
4th- then move onto the VE table(im sure ill be here awhile )
5th- get the spark table to as close to good as i can
6th- try and mess w/ the knock timing and enabling(my tires, gears, lockers, lift and trans i beleive are giving false knocks)
from this point i am just going to refine the previous to the best i can get it(i do relize this could take a looong time) now to some tuning questions w/ my motor being all stock i shouldent have to mess w/ any starting or choke conditions rite, thats what ive gathered from reading, also when is the best time to try and get hiway mode tuned in or should i leave that alone till i get a better handle on things sorry about the long post but this forum has got me addicted to this prom tunig theory. thanks everyone

Starting out
Just a bit of beginning advice, Reset your TPS to the specs and also do the same with your IAC to be sure you start out right.
Set your base timing to the stock spec and confirm it is the same in the bin you use as well as the other constants.
If you can check your fuel pressure and calculate the correct size of the injectors it will help you as well.
Check everything is in good working order before you start.
Tuning with mechanical problems will only lead you round in circles wondering why things don't respond as they should.
<<< See the Tuning Guide regularly >>>
Try to understand what will happen when you make a change and verify there was a difference (take notes, really!) It's very easy to get into things and loose track of what you did in combination to make things better or worse. The notes and frequent file saves will give you things to go back and check what really made the engine run better.
Make notes on what made the difference so when you start over (and you will) you can quickly add back in the significant items to move you along to the next without sidetracked.
I didn't do this when I first started and spent allot of time getting back to where I liked it. Now I'm keeping much better track of things.
Do some datalogging with the chip that is in the car now so you have something to compare to in the future.
Hope that helps and good luck, your hooked now

Sizing
See this thread, there's a post from RednGold86Z' that has the formula.
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...+injector+size
Fuel pressure directly changes the rating of the injector and you should be using the accurate value. (before modding it for idle PW etc anyway)
Just one more thing that lets you know where you are when making changes.
