Is anyone still using the NVSRAM Module anymore that I got from Moates.net?
I think my battery is dead...

what battery would that be? I can´t recall any batteries in that kit?

 

I have the NVSRAM Module by MonteCarSlow’s 4kb nvsram module

I was told there was a battery that needed to be changed about every 10 years otherwise it will revert to the backup chip...

 

Oopsss... I was thinking of a another module... I just Googled that and there is a a battery there.

Is this just the battery, or I have to buy a whole new chip?

I believe the battery is built into the NVSRAM chip and once depleted, the whole chip needs to be replaced. That is how the NVSRAM chip works, it has it's own battery backup.
The link to Mouser for the NVSRAM chip says that chip is obsolete. With flash ram becoming popular, I doubt there will be any more NVSRAM chips produced. JMO! Be wary of any old stock or used kits/parts as the battery life of those components cannot be determined. I would get the part number and see if it cross references to any other numbers or manufacturers. GL!

 

The nvsram has a integrael energy source. Chip do you mean a sst27sf512 ? No .
