Vats

Im putting a 89 350 TPI in my 86 TPI IROC. I need a 350 chip. Question being did 87 come with out vats and can i use that? Or do i need to get a 350 TPI chip and have the vats eliminated? (if i can find someone to do it) just tryin to tie up loose ends for my swap. Thanks Alex

According to the Howell Eng. Developments manual...from 1986-1988, all Corvettes, and 1988 Trans Ams were equipped with VATS. In 1989, all TPI memcals were programmed for VATS. So I take it as the 1987 did come without VATS, if you have a Camaro. Thats the way I interpeted it anyway. Then in 1989, all three cars had the VATS.

89 tpi doesn't have a 9th injector. So you will need a 86-88 chip modded to work w/o the 9th or a 89 chip with VATs turned off.

Your 86 tpi system won't work?
