won't idle

O.K. my car has aftermarket heads cam and intake and it runs really good with the factory programming. That being said there is also a lot of room for improvement. I have come to the realization that I will have to do it myself after putting the latest version of my custom burnt chip in. Chip burners name and or company name withheld to protect the guilty. Anyway the car runs best in open loop on the stock chip, and really rich in closed loop. On the custom chip it either won't idle or will hunt beetween 400rpm and 2,000 rpm in open loop, but run's great in closed loop. So initially all I wan't to change is the idle in open loop. Any suggestion's?

Gonna need more info, like what type of injection, ecm, what size cam, type of tunings software, and burner. With this we can point you in the right direction.

Try opening up the throttle blades, using the set screw on the drivers side of the TB. Watch your IAC counts, and see if they start dropping. Try to get them as low as possible - the computer will maintain the idle speed.

I did this on mine, and was able to get the idle to smooth out. It also helped with the mixture. If this doesn't help, then contact the people who did the custom chip, and tell them to fix it.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the advice, the last time I had my scanner hooked up it read IAC counts around 20 if I remember right. I tried that but didn't open them very far as I didn't know if I was on the right track or not. Hope that fixes is since the tuner dosen't want to help anymore.

P.S. I love that b.s. flag, it's a riot!

Who's the tuner? I bet it's TBI chips. First his prices go through the roof, now his service is slipping. All the more reason's to do it yourself.

I don't want to say who it is, but the price was pretty good, actually I got the chip for in my pcmforless than most everyone else charges.
