1) For $40 the ecm is worth having as a spare. Im on my 3rd
2) If it is just the prom it really isnt going to do you any good without the adaptor. But if its a Hypertech prom WITH adaptor them go for it , just for the adaptor. With the adaptor you can always add a different prom later, yet use the hyercrap until then.
Hypertech usually only sells the adaptor and the prom as one peice but you can still remove the prom when you want to change it out.
Get a pic from him or ask him if it the adaptor and prom.
