Stand-alone data logging software?

Are there any good OBD 1 datalogging packages available that let you also customize the definition file?

I really dig tunerpro's flexibility on the datalogging side, but it doesnt work well on my laptop, and I hate buying something nice since itll see alot of abuse in and around the car.

I use Craig's old "E6" datalogger (written in Qbasic) on an old beater laptop running DOS to log my '730. I've extensively modified the output of the logger for my own tastes.

You mentioned a while back that you had a Tcl library to use read the datastream on FreeBSD, have you made any progress on that?

I also wanted to mention that I was kind of sad that no one wanted to help out on this:

http://ecmedit.sourceforge.net/

I'm thinking of rewriting it so it's a C++ library that takes plugins for different formats (xdf, ecu, xml) and then write the GUI in Python, it should be useable on old laptops.

It worked for my needs at the time (testing the ALDL byte write hack and the NVRAM expansion hack). Nobody was interested in the code. It's good for quick development, but it lacks speed. I translated the ALDL code to Objective-C. I can send and receive mode 1/2/3/4 ALDL packets on Mac OS X 10.4 using a USB-to-serial cable with the FTDI chip in it. I could build an ALDL data logger for OS X at this point, but my goal is to make a nice app to control my real-time programmable '730 hack (the ALDL based one using the extra NVRAM). I'm not a software programmer, with my (lack of) skills and the amount of time I can spend on my projects - this could take a long time.

I'm interested in the source, could I check it out? I've never used Objective-C so it should be a fun experience!
