`7730 goes striaght into limp mode?

Hey guys!

I just got in from putting my memcal into my truck. However, like usual, it doesn't work

When I hit the key, the SES comes on, and the fuel pump primes for 2 seconds. After the fuel pump relay shuts off, then the primary electric fan immediately comes on.

I've been told that is indictive of the ECM entering limp mode.

I personally believe that the problem is with my prom somewhere. Jumpering the diagnostics wire and ground doesn't make the ECM flash any codes, along with the electric fan immediately coming on. But, if I put a 3.1 memcal I have in, then the ECM will flash codes, doesn't turn on the electric fan, along with still cycling the fuel pump etc.

All of my sensors are getting proper reference voltages of 5 volts etc, and I've quadruple checked all my wiring connections to be sure nothing is shorted out. All of the sensors are returning a realistic reading, so it isn't the ECM thinking that the engine is hot when it isn't.

When I burned my prom, I changed the EGR MAT enable, AIR enable, and Canister purge enable temps to FE (150 C according to TunerPro), switched off the VATS bit number 4 (enabled VATS), and VSS bit number 6 (magnetic speed sensor insalled) and nothing else. I just saved the BIN, which I copied from the orignal memcal, and burnt it straight to my AT27C256 flash chip, put it into the memcal, and put it into my truck.

Did I have to change the checksum or anything like that somehow?

Try disabling checksum - Mask ID set to AA.
Also, try verifying the burn.
Also, read your burns, and compare to the original bin.
Also, you could be setting up the stack improperly - I prefer to fill all my chips with the same calibration. Make sure you know what size the bin is, and what size the chip is for stacking properly. bits/bytes not the same

Chip in backwards ???
Are you using a Moates adapter or soldering the chip in?
If using the adapter the chip notch would go to the outside (twards the oem chip side of the memcal) and the free spaces in the socket would also be on that end.

Yeah, I triple checked check chip spacing / orientation, but, the ticket has something to do with my changing the minimum temps of stuff. I burned a new prom that I'd only disabled VATS on, and suddenly things started working. It was great to hear my truck run again after all these years

If I had to guess, I imagine it has something to do with the checksum, so I'll try disabling it as suggested above, and see if things will start working for me
