EBL-fan settings

Well all, got in the taurus fan. I was wondering if anyone know why it comes on @ 74 C, I tried changing the min/max CTS value, I set the MPH override to 55mph, but even if I am doing 70 mph it still comes on after 74 degrees C. Any ideas, I've been emulating to try changing the setting real time and can't seem to get er done!

Check the fan overide CTS, I believe if you get to that temp, the fans come on regardless. Also check that your VSS is working properly.

yup, the VSS is fine, my speedo is 10mph fast, so I bumped up the speed shut off to 55 mph. The fan override temp is set to 90 C, that's why I don't understand why it is coming on @ 74 regardless.

Was wondering if you have this figured out. One other item that will force the fan on is a CTS malfunction. A/C active will also do it, but only under the MPH cutoff.

RBob, the CTS seems to be fine, That's how the ecm would see the actual engine temp right, the gauge matches the ecm's reading for the coolant temp. I also have the a/c off, it isn't charged anyway. I have checked to see if it goes on and off with the a/c turned to on and it does. I have a spare CTS somewhere, but I believe it is fine. I'll ohm it out, and if need be swap it out with another. But I don't think that is it.

ECM temperature is from the CTS sensor. With the ECM is reporting correctly I then I agree, not the sensor. If you want email me your BIN. I'll check it out and get back to you.

OK, found the issue with the fan temperatures. In the ECU/XDF I used the old equation, not the new one. So the temp's are close, but not correct. If one wants to correct it themselves here is the info.

In two locations for the fan: over ride, and the lower/upper values. Change the offset from -5 to -40, and change the multiplier from 0.625 to 0.750.

That will take care of it. If any EBL user would like updated ECU/XDF's send me a PM or email and address and I'll email new copies with the corrections.

update:

I changed the formula and it works now. At least the override does. The fan doesn't come on anymore @ 74 C when driving down the road. Though the min/max I'm not sure. When it was warming up I sent the min to 30 C and the fan didn't come on.

The min is the turn off CTS, the max is the turn on CTS. So, once above the max, the fan turns on. Then once the CTS falls below the min the fan turns off. {wow, I need sleep}
