Attn Grumpy and anybody else that can help: Speed Density w/ supercharger

Please refer to "maf w/ supercharger?" in this topic. I checked into what you said about the Syclone/Typhoon ecm. Seems like that would be best. Could I use any speed density ecm with a 3 bar map or would I need that specific one. Also what else would I need for the swap. I'm new at this so I'm trying to do my best and get alot of advice. Where could I get a custom prom made for the ecm b/c there are other issues that need to be addressed other than the supercharger: for example I have no smog equip. and I get a code 32, I realize that if I got a custom prom I could turn that function off to eliminate the check engine light. Also would the new ecm still function through the aldl port under the dash? Would it be better to go this route for tuneability or would an aftermarket setup like DFI be better? I have a little time before I start work on this project so I'd like to get all my thoughts and plans straight before I start.
Could I order the parts directly or would I have to hunt them down at junkyards? I am still trying to learn and don't know where to start. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Didn't you post originally about running 18 PSI of boost?. If so the oem sy cal gets you to 15. By going to the 3 bar you lose alot of resolution. There is no GM cal running a 3 bar. That is strickly a Ultimate Chip Patch for the 749 ecm. Doing something like this is going to take doing lots of homework to get right. Yes for enough $$ you can get a friendly aftermarket ecm, but I personally can't afford to not run a GM ECM. I drive my cars (ALOT), if one takes a dump, I have a spare ecm in the trunk. That gets expensive with a Speedpro or DFI. Reading with say you grief. Might get the GMECM and DIY_EFI archives and devote alot of time getting up to speed.
Once you read up some more then you can ask more pointed questions. Asking something like what do I need to do this is a rather unfair question. That puts all the burden on someone trying to help you. Kind of a set up if you see what I mean.
The Promgrammer id still available there was like $15 and was a full editor for that ecm.
I have run a SBC on the sy code, and it worked. It was a strange set up we used a TBI no less.

Yes I understand what you are saying, quess I gotta take some time to catch up. I'm like you personally I can't afford not to run GM ecm. I'm just no sure how far you can take it. I do have one question though, could you run the 2 bar sensor higher than 15psi with a different calibration. Thanks for your time.

I would feel safe running 18 PSI on a 2 bar MAP. There is a 3 bar sy patch. Just don't know if it's author is much on releasing it.
Numerous sy s are in the 11s with the 749, and the GNs with the old generation 148 are in the 10s.
Matter of fact I think there are some 9 sec 148 cars. Speedpros seem popular thou for the ease of setup with the GNs, one of the codesigners owns a hot GN so there was alot of instantly happy customers.
