Prom Level 1 through 5 is how badly TPIS is going to rape you for buying anEprom from them.

Advertising hype.
Shear Bull chit
Higher the number the faster you wallet empties.
I have yet to see a 3rd Gen aftermarket chip that a guy with a weeks time doing his own can't match, at least in where to make the changes, I've seen the aftermarket ones do so far.
FWIW, with all the folks doing their own, and finding out what makes a chip really work you can get any number of chips from 25-50 dollars, and one with serious code patches for like running the translator+ are still less then 200.

To add further to what Grumpy is saying, the BIGGEST RIP-OFF are those "off-the-shelf" Jet, Hypertech and ADS chips. Now that I am able to read the PROMs and compare their code to the stock GM code, the "off-the-shelf" shipts have VERY MINOR changes...usually just a degree or two of spark advance in the mid-range section.

I could make an equivalent change in less than 5 minutes, but I would be embarrassed to give it to anyone...it does SO LITTLE.

Burning your own PROM is the ONLY way to go.
