ESC module included in PROM?!!?

Hi guys,

this is what I read on this site: 305 TPI to 350 TPI Conversion

To make it short, It says that in 730 equiped Fbodies, the ESC is phisically included in the PROM. Well, no big deal.

My proplem is: I'm swapping my 305 for a 350 with big vortech heads, big vortech style TPI manifold, big cam, juicers, intake, well big everything and I plan to use the prom switcher from Moates (I already have it though).

Does Moates equipment already take care of this or do I have to plug an existing 350 PROM on the Moates bin switcher socket?

Does anybody already encountered my problem?

Thanks guys.

You have to use the Moates G1 adapter (or similar) in a 730 to be able to plug in a DIY prom (or bin switcher or emulator for that matter). Then you plug a 350 memcal into the edge connector on the G1 so you have access to the ESC stuff. Just don't expect the limp home mode to be of much help if you have extensive mods....

Does anyone has a schematic of this?
So I'll study it and found some way to improve it........

Does anyone knows what differs from a 305 ESC to a 350 ESC for a given year? (let's say 1990 )

Also, does anyone knows how it works?

Damned! I know I ask a lot.

If I read the question correctly, you are using a 730 but going from 305 to 350. Figuring the setup is 1990 style.
If that is the case then you will need a MEMCAL to place on your Moates adapter (which will be needed in any case) and then use the correct knock sensor for the 350.
The knock sensor is different on the 305 and the 350.
I do know the 350 sensor is 3.9K ohms, GM P/N# 10456549.
Not sure on the 305.
I don't believe there is any diff in the MEMCAL except for the "limp mode" resistors. The other ESC stuff is the same from what I understand.
Best to use a 350 MEMCAL just so your limp settings are close enough to allow you to run. Still may not run good but MAY run better than the 305 settings.
