JakeJr, the "BUA" PROM, I believe, is from a 1986 'vette. I'm not sure about the ratios, tranny, etc. I was looking all over the Houston area for an ECM/Memcal/PROM that would work with my 1987 GTA 350 TPI setup, and found this guy with a 1227165 ECM and BUA PROM from a 1986 'vette. He had some other 165s, but did not know where they came from, so I got the 'vette unit. Stupid me - everything I had read said that the VATS was not introduced until 1988, but just today there was a post stating that it began in 1986 on the 'vette. To add insult to injury, the ECM was toast. I got a lifetime warranty ECM from O'reilly's only to find that the VATS is screwing things up now that the ECM is capable enough to use it. To answer your question, though, I did call a GM dealership to confirm that the PROM was for a 1986 Corvette.

Thanks for the info. Yes, my 86 Vette has VATS.

I'm sure someone with a burner can turn off the VATS in the PROM for you. Everything should work okay then.

I bought a rebuilt ECM from O'Reilly's too, about a year ago.

The two PROMS I posted have 89 bin files and 6E calibration (whatever that means).

They've been modified with EGR turned off, idle speed raised and a slight change to the TCC.

I suspect they are both Vette PROMS too.

Thanks again,

Jake
