Need help with WinBin program please
I just tried using WinBin for the first time today. When I opened up the program and tried to view a .bin file that I got from someone else it came up with "path/file access error". Anyone know why? Thanks.

Well I figured out that I had to load an ECM file too. Now I just have to find the right one. If anyone would like to point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. 89 IROC TPI

Well I think I figured this out too. I guess there's only one .ecu file? Anyways here's the real clincher. Where can I read up on and get an understanding on what all of the different tables mean, and how changing their values affects things?

This is exactly why I am sceptical about trying to do my own PROM. Everyone has gotten so pissy about what questions you can't ask that I don't know if I would have to ask the questions you're not supposed to ask in order to finish the freakin job.

Paul, unfortunately there is no central spot (yet) that describes what ALL the tables mean, what the effects are when you adjust something, how best to calculate how much of an adjustment you should make and describes every ecm ever made.
In fact, not every table or constant is even defined in any one editor. Traxion and I are finding new tables (and their effects) everyday on just the 8D. And because we only have an 8D car, we can't test and verify 6E cars like yours, let alone all the other versions out there.
We are ALL learning, discovering and sharing information so that we will all know. The best we can hope for at this time is for people to remember this and share it until someone gets energenic and write all of this up.
Eprom burning has come a long way since the days Grumpy (and a few crazy people) decided to try and "reverse engineer" the ecms. It's only be recent that us "common folk" have been able to reap the benefits of their initial trail blazing.
But the more of us that work together, the more it will become common knowledge that everyone can benefit. We have a great headstart thanks to those inital trailblazers, but its up to us now to "fill in the blanks". Two to five years from now, probably every constant and table will be totally hacked and common place knowledge, along with pages defining everything. But in the meantime, we need all to work together.
Also, more people tend to use TunerCat instead of WinBin, so you are also a bit on your own in that department.
