need help with prom limits?

I'm new to the computer & prom tec..

I was wondering if there is a limit on what you can do with the stock computer with the right chip in it??

I'm going to build a 383 motor supercharged 12-16 psi built motor I know what I'm doing with the motor but the Computer is where I'm still lacking info on??

I guess my question would be more like Will the stock computer be able to (with the right prom) handle a motor of this power asuming I have all the Injectors/fuel system and intake and motor to handle it??

Thanks a bunch guys I really dont have much info of that stuff yet

Dependig on the year and induction type you are talking about, the computer can do it.... but your stock chip wont.

If you plan on using the stock computer from your F-Body then ... your stock computer will not do it (at least at this point in time). The best bet for a FORCED INDUCTION setup is to switch over to the 749 ECM which has a 2 bar MAP sensor for forced induction.

Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

There is another alternative that you may wish to consider. Willie has a D1SC with MAF. After looking at a lot of alternatives, he went with a "Superfueler", than can be controlled separately at various boost levels and has its own injector (similar to a NOS nozzle).

The advantage to this system is that you can tune the ecm around the smaller injectors for normal driving and then concentrate on WOT boosted power with the Superfueler. It is really the only alternative for us TPI guys with only 1 bar MAP or 255 gm/sec MAFs.

I believe Grumpy does have a "trick" how to use a 2 bar MAP on a 730 ecm but you would have to ask him about that. I am just now getting into "modifying the code" of the 730 with the idea of looking into modifying the 730 to handle 15 psi of boost.

I'm currently running a 91 z28 305 auto

I'm going to be changing to the 350 and stroking it to a 383

SO still, I guess that the (stock computer/w a "custom chip") is what I ment to say, can be programed to handle the forced induction motor?? with the 91 speed dinsity comp.??

sorry I'm still learning so I dont really understand some of the things that you are describing..

but what I generally get from what you guys are saying is that to get the most hp from this set up I will need to try some different setups
I really "at the start" want to get this motor in and at least get it running somewhat good with a custom chip will I be able to do this untill I'm ready to move on to bigger and better set up when I first learn more about them???

sorry sounds kinda confusing..
