Silly question

Hey guys!

I'm having some problems getting my programmer to erase the 27SF512 chips I picked up so I can re-program them for my truck.

Through searching on the net, I found the solution for my willem advanced programmer, but need a hand with it. Basically, it says to jumper pin 22 and 24 on the ZIF, but I don't know which pin is which...

Looking at this pic, can someone tell me what two pins I need to be jumpering?

Thanks!

Russ

A 27SF512 is an EEPROM, no erasing is necessary.

Check page 5 for the pinout of a 27SF512 DIP package. To find pins 22 and 24 of the ZIF, follow the same pin numbering schema (counter clockwise around the socket starting at the lever).

As you look at the picture you posted, #1 is lower left.

I just tried burning to the chip, but my Willem Enhanced Programmer simply spits out a error message when it goes to verify the chip. Message is "Error at 0x000000 Chip = 0x00 buffer = 0x26"

Programmer is set for SST27SF512 (Vpe 12V), and I do have the little DIP switches set correctly.

Any ideas why it wouldn't program?

Although I don't (and won't) use a Willem, the 27SF512 does have to be erased before it can be written to. And in the picture you posted, pin 1 is the upper left of the picture. Look for the "notch" on one side of the chip. Hold that notch towards the sky and pin one is immediately next to it on the left.
