i bought the cable than had to by the adaptor to make it work with my usb port. im using the winaldl program but no data is pulling up. can anyone tell what im doing wrong or if that adaptor i have is not the right one??

 

Make sure winALDL is set up to use 4800 baud instead of 2400. This is required for USB converters.

Additionally, not all USB converters work for this purpose. Do a quick search and you should be able to pull up some suggested converters.

 

yeah i switched that setting but maybe this cable is not good for this stuff

 

man this is getting frustrating i bought my convertor from radio shack and it didnt work, and i just tryed my buddies out and it didnt work so hell i dont know what to do!! i set it it 4800 like you said and kept switching the com ports and shutting down winaldl and restarting and even rebooting my comp over and over... this is getting old i must say!! help please!!

 

Did you install drivers to make the USB a virtual serial port? I just got my cable, and the seller and a link to drivers for the cable. I had to install those drivers to get data.

 

yeah i did install the drivers on all of the cables i tried and still nothing. i just bought a pci whatever internal card that should be in soon. i hope that works or im gona be ticked lol.

 

Did you try all of the ecm's (that is if you are using winAldl). I forgot my ecm #s, but I just clicked through all of the ECMs until good data came up.

pci card? Are you using a laptop or a desktop pc?

 

my Radio shack adapter works well. com ports all set up to same?
