89 TPI PROM q within

I have heard that I would be better off unplugging the C/S injector and switching out my PROM with one for a '89 car. However, when I called the dealer yesterday to order the prom, he told me that they didn't make any proms that year for a 3.27 rear end, so I can't use it!! If I do go ahead and buy the prom, is there a way to change the gear ratio and to disable the VATS?

If I remember correctly, the P4 ECMs read the speed adjusted via gears in the transmission tailshaft, not adjusted in the ECM. Your rear gear should not matter, especially for a MAF car. I'm not 100% sure on the MAP ECMs, but I believe they're the same.

Go ahead and order the prom if you're really set on it... but you could just buy burning equipment and make your own with the ARAP code as a starting point. You'll have to get a PROM burner anyways to disable VATS in the chip.

afgun is right.
I'm running god knows what "code" i am running in my car. Its a combo of the stock 89 305tpi manual tranny iroc chip along with the spark tables of the ARAP bin. It runs pretty good, well it runs ok.
But to answer the question, yes it will work just fine. I'm running 3.73 in my cable driven t5.. seems to work ok.
