GM memcal

Hi guys, I'm kinda new to computer controlled cars. Am in the process of building this 87 GTA. I know I'm going to have to learn how to program a chip, What I need to know is are all gm memcals interchangable? My buddy has given me three differant memcals. Don't know what their out of. Can I use these when I start? Or do I have to have a 87 memcal? I just installed the hypertech one tonight and it runs much better but smells much richer. Car was a 305 before. Thanks !!

No they are not all interchangeable.... I would first identify what you have...

Look at the tech article at the top of this page, and go towards the bottom where you can see a couple of places listed that have the Prom codes on it.
