This stuff is all new to me. Need help on Ram Jet ECM.

Now, I have the Ram Jet 430 (LT4 Hotcam, fastburn heads, 30lb SVOs)in my project car right now. It is an 89 Formula originally an L98 MAF car.

Do I A) Have AS&M reprogram the MEFI computer ($450 including the addition of an O2 sensor) or

B) Hook up a 7730 ECM and burn proms?

I am assuming this 7730 ECM is a stock computer from a SD L98 car. Is this right?
How hard would it be to make this computer work with the ramjet harness?

Any help would be appreciated.

L98, 3.27 9-bolt, Hooker shorty headers, custom 2.5inch Y-pipe, no cat, 3inch 2chamber flowmaster, JET AFPR, Ported MAF, Best ET: 13.86 @100mph. 1.99 60'
17 inch ROH "ZS" wheels. 17x8.5(front) and 17x9.5 (rear). Firestone Firehawk SZ50s. 245/45/zr17s and 275/40/zr17s. T56

On the way... Radar Blue 89 Formula, T56, Ram Jet 430, Ram Air, 17inch ROHs.

Yes, the 7730 is the SD ecm. I have not seen the harness for the RamJet, but I would think using the stock 7730 harness and installing the connectors that are unique to the RamJet setup to the corresponding connector on the 7730 harness would be one approach.

Before soending a dime at AS+M read up on carprom. Or how to lose $1100.

A 730 powered ramjet should work out nicely.
As far as I know Diacom has the only MEFI diagnostic stuff so har, and it's a seperate deal from the auto stuff they sell. MEFI is Marine EFI

Humm, I seem to recall a topic recently on one of the boards regarding RamJet and MAF. I would hope to think the same would be true with the 165 ecm also. Wonder if i can find that reply and direct him/her here.

There may be some issues with the small plenum and its interaction with the MAF. The RamJet does strike me as being quite similar functionally as the Miniram. About the biggest complaint I hear from MR/Miniram owners is the tuning issues and backfiring through the intake.

But from an electronics point of view, I cannot see why you can not fit a MAF into the front of the intake. You will have to do some frabrication on the intake, but everything else is just EFI and tuning.

But I predict using SD will give better driveability. Just one guy's opinion.

From pictures only, it appears the plenum volume on the RamJet mintake is significantly larger than the miniram or LT1. This should help reduce the intake pressure pulsing the Lt1 is known for. I vote for Speed density 7730 ecm. AZS&M can get rather expensive and you can never fine tune yourself!!
