I have an 86 2.8 that used to have an automatic tranny but now has a 5-speed. When I pull the car out of gear while driving it seems to "hunt" for idle. It will idle at 2k for a second or two then drop to 650 then back up to 2K then slowly return to normal(650). I was told by a GM dealer to change the PROM to the 5-speed one. Will this solve the problem? It is not a big deal, it is just kind of annoying.

Second, my ecm is the 1227302, I looked around a bit and didn't find any editors that support it. Am I just not finding it? Can I alter my PROM? I would like to try to get maybe a few more mpg out of it. 30mpg isn't bad but if others can get that out of a 350 then a 2.8 should do better.
