Could this be prom related?

I had 3 runs at the track on Friday evening on my new motor(87 vette). I had a local tuner burn a custom chip.
I noticed that just after the trans shifts into 3rd, the torque convertor locks up and drops my rpm by close to 1000 rpm. I know this is dramatically impacting my times. When it happens, it feels like I've lost momentum until the engine climbs back to higher rpm. It's so noticeable, it feels like the car is in overdrive. I leave the trans in D (no overdrive and let the car shift itself.

Another thing I have noticed is that the overdrive light (for the manual cars) is illuminated. This was not illuminated when using the prior e-prom. I know that the trans in my 87 is not controlled by the computer except for the TC lockup. Originally I didn't think this was an issue, but now I don't know.

Any ideas??

Thanks
Glenn

He's not a tuner if he can't cure that.
Better read up on the material, and do em yourself.
If he ain't got a clue about chips, he shouldn't be passing himself off as knowing so, shame to melt an engine of your's for him to learn something

I'm in the process of reading up and trying to learn this stuff. I should of mentioned that his starting point was an ARAP chip, which I assume is the reason for the overdrive light on the dash. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to devote to it due to my pending wedding and work related commitments. In the tuners defense, I haven't spoken to him yet to get his feedback.
