EBL idle and bigger cam....
Installed bigger cam recently, because of a flattened lobe. it is the 11-209-3, comp, 219/229,507/531 lift. EBL ran. of course.
Had a heck of time getting it to idle. it bucked and jumped, even after setting the idle speed up some. ended up with closed loop idle. it idles now, but seems to be rich. I have a zt-2, but messed the cable up while breaking in the cam, so it has to go back to the factory to have the fuse replaced. So stuck with a NB for now.
Learn VE had me take about 15% all across the board. BLM's traveling down the road now are 124-130 or so. So that part is close. BLM's at idle are 108, as you can see in the log file snippet below. Also attached is a screenshot of what i had to change to get it to idle in park/N and in Drive. Afraid to lean out the idle cells too much, with out the WB to back me up. So.. It idles decent now. But does any of what i changed look ok? or am i off base anywhere? Still doesnt idle as well when first started up cold, but once it warms up, its okay. The log snippet is before the last changes, to show what it was doing.
now to try to attach the screenshot....okay. hard to read to me in IE, but saved and then opened its okay...
Btw, Could not imagine doing any of this with a stock TBI, if not for Rbob and the TunerPro guy (forgot the name at this instant, but..)!!
Also, the radioshack usb to serial converter is working for me, EBL to Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop.

I wouldn't worry too much about needing a WB for idle setup. I usually tweak the tune for the smoothest or best idle. With the BLM bottomed out I would lower the VE table. This will also help with the cold starts. It is probably on the rich side as the VE is too high.
The other item I noticed is the high IAC counts. It will help the idle to open the throttle blades a bit. This will lower the IAC counts and allow the fuel to better flow past the blades. With the fan & A/C off I shoot for 5-10 IAC counts on a warm idle.

Also, don't be afraid of the "dreaded" LEAN at anything below 50 kPa. It's almost impossible to damage an engine at that load. And idle can be leaned to the point of stall without damage.
