Folks,
I'd like to compile a list of desired updates to my GMECM datalogging program. What I have in mind right now includes the following:
1) Addition of 'Save as new defaults' option in the opening page
2) Upgrade '730 support to include MAP logging and changes suggested by users in terms of accuracy and such
3) Add variable for fuel efficiency ('mileage')
4) Provide field for vehicle weight for power calculations
5) Add torque/HP variable and allow storage as function of time
6) Allow 1/4 - 1/8 pass calculator to save results to summary file, appending to previous results with date stamp
7) Correct a few errors in calculated values (anyone know of some? 165 or 730? I think the spk retard value is off by a factor of 10, verify? Let me know now!)
8) Continue working on 160-baud support (may not be ready in next revision except in the most basic beta form)
9) Improve summary page and brief datalog to include BLM value and BLM cell number
10) Requiring a charge of $15 to use the program (just kidding!)

11) Including the newer (along with the original for comparison) 6E WinBin revision on the site
12) Adding links for the dual-mode 'Techedge' and simplified 2-transistor circuits, since they've been shown to work (correct me if I'm wrong!)
I'm thinking some other items must have been mentioned along the way, but these are ones which have stuck with me. I am inviting suggestions for additional items as well as comments on the above. I'd like this thread to serve as a reference for me as I go forward with the new version completion.

You might be covering this with the 1/8 & 1/4 mile idea. A calculator for figuring torque & Horsepower on a moment to moment basis, instead of a blanket 1/8 mile time, have a relationship between RPM, & calculated Torque/HP.

Realize that this suggestion stems from the fact that I transfer files from my data logging laptop to my desktop for analysis. Provide some targeted outputs. If I only care about TPS, BLM, INT, BLM Cell, MAF, and RPM because I am tuning, maybe make that as a targeted output. My problem is that if I run too long of a session, the output becomes too large to put on a floppy. reducing the # of columns would allow me a longer log with more data points.
For the long files, you might try PKZipping the *.csv files, you can cram a heck of a lot of data on a floppy that way...

How about a VE table caculator? Now that would be cool.
I hear that the LT1 guys have such a program. It uses EASE I think to collect data and cruches out a new VE table.

Hmmm, that COULD be cool. Any thoughts on how to do it? I guess some hybridization of RPM, TPS, and MAP, but where do you get the MAF data? That's where I'd guess the LT1 guys would, a MAF. Hmmm... O2? I'm thinking out loud here, feel free to do the same...

Craig. It would be great to get a program like that. I will try to get a copy of a program that exsists for the LT1 cars. I assumed it was only for the speed density LT1's. Apparently, you drive the car normally duplicating many driving conditions and make a big data log file. Then this program takes this info which I assume is RPM/MAP/BLM and crunches out a new VE table. I hear it works ver well.

The spark retard value is off by a factor of 10, at least in 730 mode. I almost had a heart attack when I first hooked it up! A friend is bringing his '165 car by tomorrow morning, so I'll let you know if it's the same there.
BTW- Although I greatly appreciate what you are doing for free, i'd gladly be willing to register for $15.

I'd be a very happy camper if you get the 160 baud support worked out for both 7747 and 8746 ecms. What kind of cable connection would I need? I have the serial cable from AKM.?!!? forget name, but I also have a diacom parallel port cable and so far the only port used with 160 baud programs have been parallel (Turbo link, Diacom, Ease).
