Question about a custom prom

Hi guys, I am going to be needing a custom prom for my car in the near future. Where can I have one made that will be decent? I know the thing says "no prom begging" and stuff like that, but would it be possible for someone to burn me a new prom just knowing my combo and not actually being able to use the car? If so, where or who could do it for me? I know there is places like superchips, etc but will they actually burn you a good one using your combo info? I am new to this and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, I predict this thread will be locked by the "Prom Police".

Do you want to learn about trying to buy custom proms? Read recent posts by 89Vette about his trials and tribulations in trying to get his SBC 396 Miniram Vette to run right. He tried everything INCLUDING buying a custom prom from "not to be name, but fairly well known" prom writer.

I helped Jason and between the two of us, he now has a BIN that is far better than anything he paid money for AND NOW, he can tweak it BEYOND any thing he can buy.

Bottom line, learn how to burn your own eprom. There are a lot of guys who are willing to help you develop that "custom prom" that money just can't buy. The expertise on this board is growing every day and ALL are willing to help as best as we can. We all remember what it felt like to be rookies and not knowing which direction to even place the eprom in the burner.

If you play with it, you will even find yourself to a point where you probably could write a "formula prom" (my term for guys that just plug in specs and burn a chip) better than a LOT of the supposed "experts". But I will say this right now, NO ONE can write a "formula prom" that is perfect on the first crack. I have chatted with some of the "experts" and they all agree that to get the prom right involves a LOT of hands on tuning. These guys DO A GOOD PROM. But you better be prepared to spend $1,000.

If you want to learn eprom buring, go to the link at the top of the board saying "PROM BURNING INTRODUCTION" and click on it.

If you just want a PROM, make a post on the "Aftermarket Board". You'll probably get either Ed Wright @ www.fastchips.com recommended.

Now the Prom Police can lock the thread...as we don't "deal" in PROMS in the board....we deal with knowledge. I hope you make the right choice.
