Ease scantool questions
Ease scantool questions
I'm using a modified ARAP. I tried the tool for the first time. I plugged in that I was actually scanning a '89 Vette. (Mine's an 87 Vette) I find that I'm getting about 48 parameters of data. Two troubling issues:
1) I'm reading MAF gm/s in excess 10,000 in some cases. (I understand the ECM can only read up to 255 gm/s)
2) I'm not getting parameters relating to knock count or spark retard. I'm only getting spark advance.
My local tuner suggested to me originally that I should have him completely negate the knock sensor to which I disagreed. Is it possible he did it anyway and that's why I'm seeing what I'm seeing.
Thanks in advance.

Something bogus is going on. The ecm can only read to 255.

If it's not making the right noise, you won't trigger knock detection. Pull the plugs and check for sighns of detonation.

Possible?, yes.
That's why it's suggested that you do your own. Eliminates the BS factor
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Grumpy. Actually I've been lurking here for awhile trying to learn this stuff. Buying the scantool was the first step in doing my own proms. As far as the MAF readings, I called their tech support and they were going to check to make sure there isn't a bug. I assume enough people on this board use this software, so I wonder if anyone else has complained of this?

I also use the scan tool from Ease, but have not seen this problem. Sounds like something particular to your year 'Vette.
Try working with Ease on your problem, they are good to work with and helped fix some bugs that I had. I still get false DTC's, when I first connect up, depending on the interface that it finds. So, no program is perfect!!

pulling valve covers or manifolds.
Also with stock 2.77 rear end!!!

It looks like a bug. According to an e-mail I just recieved from them. I must say they are great to work with.
I have found that they are very eager to work with you when their are problems.
