Sometimes you can find a decent price on a trade in with your locak Snap-On, or Mac tool man. Even at times dealerships have old ones on sale.

For the 747 if your into electronics then you want Lockers but it is 747 specific, infor. at DIY-EFI Incoming.

Turbo Link is around $150.00

IMHO, if you are going to be tuning your car don't get one that can't datalog to a file for later anaylisis. Its too d*mn hard to try and read a scan tool while driving and writing down data.

I'm using one from Peter Gargano (DIY-EFI list) that uses a single transistor and two resistors on my '7747. Works like a champ, datalogs files as big as I want. Only catch is, data comes out raw (i.e. no conversions are done) and you have to convert them in Excel. Just makes things a little more difficult, but they are possible, and for $2 worth of hardware (and that includes the DB9 connector) it's a lot cheaper and easier to deal with. (It certainly fits my budget.)

Close, but not quite. This is the one I'm using now;

http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/a.../160serial.htm

You'll have to contact Peter directly to get the software itself. It's a bit different than the version from your link. The one I'm using only needs 1 transistor and 2 resistors, and not only does it log, but it puts a timestamp on!

I think Peter is working on a better version, even...
