Difficulty building your own ECM
Right now I'm FINALLY getting near completion of my EE degree at ASU. I have really been throwing around the idea of creating my own ECM. I would think that I would be able to develope one over a couple of semesters for my senior design project. One of my TA's even gave me a contact with a Prof who loves cars and his area is in Controls. He said he would probable love to see a project like that. I am currently doing work for the City of Phoenix, programming RTU's on their SCADA system for remote well sites, booster stations and reserviors, so I have alot of interation with the topic. The chips we use for the older units are the same (I think) that plug into the MEMCAL. So I have a burner, laptop etc at my disposal.

How fast is the processor in modern ECM's?
What is the fastest scan time that the logic would have to have?
Would something like an 80/86 work?
Any other input would be greatly appriciated.
