Overdrive default in TunerCat???
I'm looking at my BIN from my '86 Y-body with 4+3 trans, and I don't see the default select for the Overdrive Always On/Off...
Anybody else find it??? (In your BIN, of course...)

As far as I can tell, that is coded in - one reason there is a separate memcal for auto and manual. As soon as I can find *where* it is coded, I can suggest how to bit-bang it out. If you just want it totally gone, set $C285 (coolant temp for enable) to something really high, like FF.

Also, the BUA Hack seems to have the Overdrive on/off switch at $0035 for auto trans, and $0004 for manual trans. BUA is not my format, but others have spoken about disabling the "always-on" in the EPROM, so I thought I'd ask...
(BTW: I can't get that ALDL prog to work, either).

$0004 and $0035 are in RAM. The values there are initialized at some point. I haven't found the initialization routine yet, but still looking. I can't see why the computer would look up a value for initial OD setting - it's a BUB EPROM - there's no choice involved here. $0004 and $0035 seem to contain bits tracking the status of OD - ie. is it presently on?
I'm concentrating on $0037, where bit 2 being indicates OD is requested. Also, $0004 bit 6 provides the same information. If the computer sets this bit right away, OD will default on as soon as 1) 124 degrees coolant, and 2) not in first gear. That's the bit I'd set if I were doing it, anyway.
Of course, I could be wrong...

Yes, default is on.

Strangely, you can see this switch in WinBin. But as it's a $32 format, and I haven't found a $32 .ECU, I haven't trusted changing it with WinBin.
I suppose I could try it and see if it works with ZaphodB's $32B .ECU format. Just that one switch and no other...

Whups - slight correction -
Yes, that sounds exactly right. Until car warms up (approx 1 min), no OD. No OD until 2-3-4. Then you have to hit the momentary-contact switch to turn OD off.
Strangely, you can see this switch in WinBin, in the same car but with the later 730 computer. But as my 165 is a $32 format, and I haven't found a $32 .ECU, I haven't trusted changing it with WinBin.
