Fuel cut-off in Tunercat
Fuel cut-off in Tunercat
Does anyone here use the fuel cut-off@rpm constraint in Tunercat as a rev limiter? Is this a safe practice? Does it even work? I plan on run the 1/4 in a few weeks, just thinking of some safe guards...

I do use it as a "safety", just in case. It does work and while not the best form of a "rev limiter", it is effective.
Some guys have mentioned about using it as a "valet eprom" so that if they take their cars in for servicing, etc; they set the fuel cut-off to something like 3,000 rpm. The only cavaet is, if the service technician needs to "boot" your car to cross the road and the fuel cutoff kicks in, it may cause an accident.

One more question...Lets say I have a 5700 RPM redline. Should I cut the fuel at 5700 and turn it on a 5600, or should I leave a bigger gap in rpms?

Your choice. I personally went with a narrower gap as you are suggesting. My reasoning is that if "for some reason" I am passing a couple of big trucks on a mountain road and accidentally hit the fuel cut-off, I don't want to be without engine power too long. Especially if a car is starting to approach me in the oncoming lane.

well, on the 8746 at least, i set mine at 67 for a while. well if i were in 3rd gear and crept of 67, it would shut off until i got back to 65. however, if i was at wot, in 2nd gear, it wouldnt shut fuel off until it shifted to 3rd at about 70+ something.
dont know how your ecm is though.
