Do a search on this board for previous discussions on this. There are 2 modes: fuel and spark. Leaning out the fuel and bumping up the spark advance helps the engine burn the fuel more efficiently, so you get better mileage. You can activate it using TunerCat or WinBin (if you're using the $6E code). Advantage: better mileage.
Disadvantage: don't run too lean or you'll damage your engine (overheat, burn a hole in your piston, etc.) w/out even knowing until it's too late.
