EGR disable for the 165???

Hi all,

I was wondering what needs to be set to Disable the EGR on a 165 Bin (ARAP variation) I am running a Miniram and want to be sure I have it set right.

I am using Winbin and the ECU file for Zaphodb the 6Ev007.ecu and looking at the Flags for the EGR/VSS it is set the following way:

VSS (checked)
b6 (checked)
b5 (not checked)
b4 (not checked)
EGR (not checked)
b2 (checked)
b1 (checked)
b0 (not checked)

Also in the Values for

EGR Enable if TPS > X & EGR Duty Cycle!=0
and
EGR Enable if TPS > X & EGR Duty Cycle=0

are set to HEX 00 0.0% TPS

what else do I need to change if anything?

Thanks

Set the EGR Enable temperature to the MAX setting, which means the EGR will never reach the enable temperature.....

Where is that in the WinBin ECU file?

Also what about the EGR duty cycle vs LV8 and rpm???

Thanks

Anyone else?

I found these same questions by searching.. but no one has an answer.

I set it originally off in Tuner cat, but my Ease Scanning reports the EGR to be on and functioning with a duty cycle of ~30-40%

and I don't have any EGR or AIR stuff left on the car

I looked through the ecu file 6Ev006 for winbin and didn't see anything that was egr against temp. What did you set in tunercat?

Jeff, the 32B hack shows address 23A as the IAT for EGR disable. Try setting that address to 254.

Hmm, maybe try address 247 also. One of them should disable the EGR.

One caution here - most of the 32B calibration data is at different locations compared to 32, which was used in the Y body ECM. The ECU files for 32B give mostly nonsense values with the 32 bins I've looked at. I have fixed most of the references to make my own 32 ECU file, except for all the "highway mode" locations which I can't find any reference to.

Anyway, regarding Brent's 32B info, 23A is the same in both 32 and 32B. It disables EGR if MAT is < this temp (default=30). This should do it for you.

FYI, the other location, 247, is in the middle of a 3-way lookup table ($23E-$261) of EGR duty cycle vs load vs RPM. This table is elsewhere in the 32B calibration.

Another way to go about it is to set 238 and 239 to $FF. This is a sneaky way to tell the ECM not to use EGR unless the TPS is > 99.6%, at which point you are (hopefully) already in PE mode. In PE mode, the code sets EGR duty cycle to 0% regardless of other qualifications, so in effect EGR is always disabled.

Jeff is running the $6E code (ARAP) not 32. After some searching, I found reference to the 247 address. That should be the one for 6E.

Think that you'll only find that in 6Ev007, here:

That is the one I am using.. I must not be looking in the right place.. which table?

Also in another PROM from a tuner he disabled the EGR by setting both values in the tunercat table to FF

That would be these two values?

EGR Enable if TPS > X & EGR Duty Cycle!=0
and
EGR Enable if TPS > X & EGR Duty Cycle=0

So the scheme I came up with *does* work in the real world, if the locations are adjusted for 6E. Good to know.
