performance chip question
performance chip question
This might come as a dumb question...but the HP chips that you can get for your car....Where do they go? I am a youngin and gotta learn somehow...Right now im gettin an L98 put in my car...and i want maximum performance.Are they worth the $$$?

The eprom is actually on a Memcal, which you install in the ECM. The ECM is located on the Passenger Side of the dash, and you remove the "kick pad" at the bottom of the dash to access the ECM.
When you remove the ECM, it will have a "cover" held by 2 1/4" screws. You just remove the "cover" and then you will see a the blue Memcal, which you remove by pushing down on two "hold down latches" on either side of the memcal.
As for whether they (aftermarket eproms) are worth it...basically no. Some of the custom prom writers do a reasonably good job @ WOT, but do virtually nothing for part throttle. For the amount of money you would spend for a GOOD eprom, you are far better off to learn how to burn your own.
