cant get any ALDL linkup software to work
cant get any ALDL linkup software to work
I just bought a new ALDL to serial link cable from AKM cables, and am trying to link up to a 1987 MAF TPI but I know nothing about software offered and how to use it. FREESCAN looks pretty cool but the closest thing offered is a 1989 tpi system on a y-body. Craig Moats software also seems to have potential but I dont know how to get it started. My IBM Thinkpad 760EL Laptop's serial port can only be configured to COM2,COM3, or COM4 and most of the software demand that the link is to COM1. Can anybody give me any advice? Thanks

Yet another issue that needs to be addressed...My next version I'll put a Com-port selector in there I suppose...
Thanks Craig. A com port selector would have got me going a little sooner, but the software works great now! After about 3 hours of playing with it, I found out why the laptop couldn't offer COM1 to the serial port. I have heard of other Thinkpad owners complain about this. The interrupt reserved for COM1 was being used by the printer port, and Windows didn't specify this. I got it back by trial and error.
Another problem with the stinkpads are some (like mine) have and infared port on the side and it interfeares with com 1. Go into the bios and disable the infared port.
