Newbie question
I've burned a couple of EPROMs now, very simple stuff like fan temp. And, they both worked! Thats the good news. But, I think I'm doing something wrong because the car is always in 'limp-home' mode when I first put on the ignition and I have the check engine light on. Then I short pins a-b to check codes and it flashes code 51. Then I turn on the ignition, no check engine light and my prom changes are working.
This is great except that I don't think I should have to short a-b every time I start the car.
I'm using TunerCat to edit the bins and Pocket programmer to burn the EPROM, so checksum shouldn't be a problem. But, then again, I'm a newbie and may be missing something. I did re-read the intro and programming 101 and couldn't find anything like this.(ECM is a '165 with $32B code)
Thanks for all your help so far.

Hmmmmm, how old are the eproms? How long are you erasing them for? I've heard of-and experienced similar problems from older eproms and not enough erase time. They will require more erase time as they are reburned more. I started using the 29c256 flash eprom and they work great.
